History
The District Court of Kyustendil was established in March 1878, shortly after the end of the Russo-Turkish Liberation War. Its jurisdiction originally included the regions of Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, Radomir, and Bosilegrad.
Until 1928, the Kyustendil Court operated from various locations. In 1928, the building of the Pedagogical School began to be renovated to serve as a courthouse, which was officially inaugurated on June 28, 1931. This was the first courthouse in Bulgaria.
The new courthouse was inaugurated on December 2, 1980, and housed the Regional Court, District Court, and District Prosecutor’s Office. At present, the building accommodates the Kyustendil District and Regional Courts, after the District and Regional Prosecutor’s Offices of Kyustendil relocated in 2017 to a new building (above DSK Bank on Gorotsvetna Street, across from the courthouse).
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Kyustendil District Court, a commemorative publication titled "130 Years of the Kyustendil District Court" was issued, which you can view here >> PDF
