Court information
The Kyustendil District Court was established in March 1878, immediately following the conclusion of the Russo-Turkish Liberation War, with jurisdiction encompassing the districts of Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, Radomir, and Bosilegrad.
Until 1928, the Kyustendil Court operated from various premises. In 1928, reconstruction commenced on the building of the Pedagogical School to transform it into a courthouse, which was solemnly inaugurated on 28 June 1931, marking it as the first courthouse in Bulgaria.
The current courthouse building was officially opened on 2 December 1980. It originally housed the Regional Court, District Court, and the District Prosecutor’s Office. At present, the building accommodates both the Kyustendil District and Regional Courts, following the relocation of the Kyustendil District and Regional Prosecutor’s Offices in 2017 to a new facility located above DSK Bank on Gorotsvetna Street, opposite the courthouse.
Building upon its longstanding traditions, the Kyustendil District Court remains committed to the adoption and implementation of European legal standards, striving to attain judicial practices consistent with those at the European level.
